These terms are the ground rules for using laei.net. Keep them in a drawer in case you need them; we will try not to surprise you.
1. Using the site
When you open an account or use the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Who can have an account
- You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account (or the age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher).
- Younger children are welcome as listeners on a parent's or guardian's account. See our Children's Privacy Notice.
- You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything done on your account.
3. What we provide
laei.net offers bedtime stories, lullabies, and read-alouds, streamed in your browser. We will do our best to keep the service available and the library growing, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access — sometimes servers hiccup, sometimes we take things down for maintenance.
4. What you may do
- Listen to stories personally and with your family, at home or on the go.
- Share a link to a public story page with a friend.
- Save stories to your account and come back to them later.
5. What you may not do
- Download, rip, or redistribute story audio, text, or artwork outside of the site's own player.
- Scrape the site, overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or try to break other people's accounts.
- Use the site to host or transmit anything illegal, harmful, or that targets children inappropriately.
- Impersonate another person or pretend to be affiliated with laei.net when you are not.
6. Ownership
The stories, recordings, illustrations, audio, code, and design of laei.net belong to us or to the authors and illustrators we work with. Your account, your settings, and any content you submit to us (for example, feedback) remain yours — but by sending it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that feedback to improve the service.
7. Paid features
Core listening is free. If we offer paid features in future (for example, an offline pack or a family tier), the price, billing cycle, and cancellation terms will be shown at the moment of purchase and summarised here. Statutory consumer rights — including the right of withdrawal for EU consumers — are always preserved.
8. Changes and endings
We may update these terms when the service changes. Material changes are announced to active account holders by email at least 14 days before they take effect. You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account if it is used in clear breach of these terms, or if we are required to by law.
9. Disclaimers
laei.net is offered "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We do our best, but we do not warrant that the service will be free of errors, secure against every attack, or suitable for any specific purpose beyond the simple one of listening to stories.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, laei.net is not liable for indirect or consequential losses. For losses we are liable for, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the event, or EUR 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law — including your statutory consumer rights.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. For disputes, the competent courts of Romania have jurisdiction — again, without prejudice to your right as a consumer to bring a claim in the courts of your home country. EU consumers can also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
